Hi Karis, thanks for stopping by. I don't think you missed much with the Super Bowl, not a great game. And it is sad about The Post. The books were a good diversion. Happy reading in February!

Oh good to hear! I have not read the O'Brien classic (and her trilogy) -- it seems like a dark one but might likely wield a good discussion. I'm sure your group will weather the storm. I look forward to reading your thoughts and reviews about either or both books. Glad you were enjoying the first Dalton book -- it could be my favorite of the three ... but each has something to them. Interesting it was put out by Europa Editions. Enjoy.

I managed to get the first Dalton book and read the first 40 pages on the subway going home yesterday and was enjoying it, so I brought it and Country Girls by Edna O'Brien and let the group choose. They went with the Irish coming of age novel but said to tell you they don't mind a few triggers! I guess I am the one who complains if they select a book that just depresses me. Still, now I have two new authors to read!

In reply to <a href="https://www.thecuecard.com/books/raising-hare/#comment-40661">Dorothy Borders</a>.

Hi Dorothy, I didn't realize either about your husband working at the Houston Post. It is really sad that the owner would shut down the paper. Blech! The killing of newspapers is just awful. I think that is what Bezos has done. Grrr.
It is interesting to hear of your raising four bunnies. They were wild bunnies I gather. Did they all survive to adulthood? Did you have to cage them or were they in your garden? I also had an experience once --but it was with a domesticated miniature bunny that was in my yard one day (no one knew whose). After a few days on the lam, I had to catch him and give him to a neighbor a block away who had a hutch with a bunny he fell for. Sort of a happy ending. Enjoy your week.

Hi Rachel, thanks. Glad you have some storms on the way. Yes send them up here afterwards. We are dry as a bone with only wind mostly every day.
I agree: when the owner of a newspaper pays for the documentary of the current prez's wife ... while gutting the paper, then something is really wrong. He's an enabler! Here's to a Free Press! Enjoy your week too.

Hi Hena, Whoa I didn't realize you still had a lot of snow in NY.
It seems like everyone is still bending over to the White House, including Congress, the Supreme Court, the tech industry, and the billionaire club. It's disturbing. Down with the Oligarchy. Enjoy your week.

Hi Jane, yeah I think both books were quite enjoyable ... and luckily Before I Forget wasn't as sad or harsh as I had feared. I think you might like them. The Raising Hare book snuck up on me in the second half. Animal stories can get to me. See what you think. Cheers!
