When I think of Neil Young I think of two things: 1. My high school economics teacher bought something from him (was it a dog? a car? I don’t remember) and there were only two students in the class who knew who Neil Young was (I was one of them). 2. I dated a guy in high school with the same name (but spelled differently). 🙂

I do like memoirs, but don’t know if I’m ready to dive into this one. I am interested in the albums you recommended. I should listen to them on youtube and see how many songs I recognize.

I loved Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and Neil Young. My favorite of his albums is Harvest – I’ve listened to Old Man and Heart of Gold soooo many times, but there isn’t a bad song on that album. I’m excited about his book but am not sure I like the fact that his story’s not told in order. I never realized he had polio and epilepsy.

I was in the airport several weeks ago and this memoir, along with Jagger’s and Townshend’s, was everywhere. The last music memoir I read was Just Kids (loved it), and next up I am hoping to read Dylan’s Chronicles, but after that I think this will be my pick. I love both CSN&Y and older Neil Young albums, but from your review it sounds like I need to check out some of his more recent stuff, too.
