I’m so happy you shared your link to Women in the Castle. I agree I like the first half better. I also read Anne of Green Gables toward to end of 2018 – first time ever – delightful!

I loved Anne of Green Gables as a child….and I have a feeling a re-read is in order.

A couple of years ago, I got a download of three books in the series. I need to retrieve them from the Cloud and start reading!

The Women in the Castle has certainly been buzzing lately….and I am definitely curious, despite the drop off near the end. Thanks for sharing…and for visiting my blog.

I hope you feel better Ti. That sounds hard. I like your story about the Anne of Green Gables book; my shelves are filled with stuff I’ve bought and haven’t read. I’m glad I finally got to Book 1. I wish I had read the series in my youth — I think I would have liked it perhaps more as a young girl.

I purchased a beautiful copy of Anne of Green Gables but have not read it. I purchased it years ago too from a used bookstore in Santa Barbara. The bookstore isn’t even there anymore. That’s how long it’s been. I put it in a special spot and just now remembered it.

Today is Thursday but all week long I’ve been dragging. I think my iron is crashing again. All I can do is stare off into space which doesn’t bode well for me while working.

In reply to JaneGS. Hi Jane, not sure I will read the Anne series all at once, but maybe one per year. The story is quite sweet but I liked it. I'm glad your mother introduced you to the Anne books; they are so beloved in eastern Canada especially. And I agree about April; it's a fickle weather month. I hope your plants don't get snowed on!

I grew up on Anne–my Montreal-born mother made sure of that, and PEI is on my bucket list to visit for a whole summer in the not too distant future. I love Anne but I have reading friends who met her as an adult and were not charmed (too precocious) but she is dear to me. I assume you will read the rest of the series, right?

I’m eager to read Women in the Castle, but it will be likely fall before I can get to it. Looks terrific, and I will appreciate the German pov and setting.

Spring is fickle–here in Colorado we are leafed out, mostly, with bulbs galore and even some lilacs, but then we have freezing temps and snow forecast for the weekend. April really is the cruelest month 🙂

In reply to Judy Krueger. Hi Judy, well we live in Calgary which is not far from the border with Montana. Usually we get sunny spring in May. I'm glad to hear you read Anne as a kid, somehow I missed it. But not sure about going on with the series; it is a bit sweet sweet. I'm not sure if The Women in the Castle would be too Nightingale storytelling for you but maybe not. Different setting. Enjoy your week!
