Wow Naomi, I didn’t realize you had read the Rachman novel too. It’s a sprawling thing but had some entertaining parts to it. I’m glad you liked it. As for the movie Adrift … it’s scary but doable. Watch for it when it comes to Netflix. It kept my attention for sure.

I don’t think I’ll be watching it on the big screen… maybe if it’s ever on Netflix.
I read the Tom Rachman novel when it first came out and really liked it. It was such a mix of things, wasn’t it? But a good story!

And, I’ve had The Rise & Fall of Great Powers on my wishlist for quite some time… your review is certainly making me want to bump it up a notch or two.

Guns of August was good–I especially loved the vividness of the opening chapter and the coming together of all the crowned heads before they waged war on each other.
